School based program services

Our counselors are a trusted and capable source of support for the surrounding Greater Los Angeles school community. We create partnerships with students, parents, teachers and administrators to help students achieve their goals. Second, our counselors also work with parents to improve communication and provide therapeutic interventions and guidance. Our school based program aims to promote student success in the classroom by focusing on the critical connection between a student's mental health and their ability to effectively take advantage of learning opportunities. Our counselors will work to empower students to become their own advocates and further their growth in all areas.

During counseling sessions, counselors utilize a variety of trauma-informed, evidence-based practices to:

  • Promote and teach non-violent communication
  • Improve coping skills
  • Improve affect regulation
  • Strengthen students’ sense of self, self-esteem, and self-efficacy
  • Promote positive behavior change
  • Improve skills regarding interpersonal relational functioning
  • Identify goals and effective paths to achieve goals
  • Improve students’ ability identify, differentiate and verbalize emotions
